Today I am thankful for… stairs.

It takes a lot of body parts working in tandem to successfully walk up and down stairs.

  • Every joint from your toes to your hips moving smoothly.
  • Bones properly in place and in tact.
  • Muscles with enough strength to support me.
  • Your brain communicating with everything above.

I don’t want to take the things that function properly for granted.

I want to be in awe of the complexity & symphony of the human body.

Today, stairs reminded me of my lungs, as I huffed and puffed opening the door to the 6th floor. My lungs also function properly. Not optimally mind you, but that’s on me. This complex symphony requires care & use.

So I’m taking the stairs, not the elevator. Because I can. And I want to continue to be thankful that I can, while I can.

What are your stairs? What can your body do that you are thankful for?

It’s easy to dwell on what’s wrong. On what’s not working.

Choose to see what is working. Focus and dwell on it. Explore and expand on it. Obsess over the good things and be thankful.

Appreciate it. Celebrate it. Thank God for it. Use it for something good for someone else.

Maybe, carry their bags up the stairs.
