There is a lot of background noise (and foreground noise) in life. A lot of things going on that want or demand our attention. And when we’re in the middle of a tough time, a tough relationship, a tough job… (fill in the blank)… every ask seems louder, every task more daunting. So what are we supposed to do when we feel overwhelmed?
Hit pause.
It was said a little different thousands of years ago.
Be still.
But the sentiment is still the same. Step back physically, figuratively and pause for a moment. Stop listening to the noise and talk to God. Tell him about the noise, the frustration. Tell him what you’re thankful for in the midst of the chaos. Tell him whatever you need to say. Then push pause on your own voice… and just listen.
I’ve never heard the audible voice of God. But there are positive encouraging thoughts that pop in my mind when there is no reason for them to be there. I think that’s God. But if I don’t pause, I never hear it. If I don’t pause, I never read the words he left for me (hint hint Bible).
Today I was reminded to slow down. To push pause. To remember that this life is not about me. To be thankful. To be available.
And to be prepared with his words in my heart… before I hit play.
thoughts go here... be nice... be thankful...
