becoming the woman God needs me to be

i don’t know

I don’t know what it’s like to be you.

Something about us is different.
So I don’t fear the same things you do in the same way.
I don’t take the same precautions that you do.

Something about us is different.
So I don’t see opportunities or limitations in the same way.
I don’t make the same choices that you do.

Something about us is different.
So I don’t get treated by strangers in the same way.
I don’t react to those situations in the way that you do.

I don’t know what it’s like to be you.
Something about us is different.
But something about us is the same.

We feel. We fear. We hope.
We stumble. We cry. We get up.
We laugh. We dream. We smile.
We disappoint. We hurt. We regret.
We wake. We try. Again.

I don’t know what it’s like to be you.

But I want to know you.

And that’s a start.
